Manhole / Catch Basin Archived485-501 Winthrop St Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
Grate will catch bike tires. Needs to be turned 90degrees or replaced.
This is the wrong grate type (should be a checkerboard, not a highway grille). All other grates on the High School campus are the checkerboard type. This grille would be correct on I-93 but not here.
Either needs to be replaced, or (at least) turned 90deg so that a bike going along the road doesn't wedge a tire between the rungs.

644 Summer St Arlington, MA 02474, USA - Arlington
Locust tree on Inbound side of 644 Summer St has branches just 7' off the street. Needs trimming up, but maybe not to the 18' standard.
Low branches increase riskof their being torn off by a vehicle, and makes the crosswalk sign impossible to see until it is "too late"

The Stop sign does not become visible until literally 20' (one car length) before the intersection.

Illegal Dumping Archived124 Ashcroft Rd Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
Are the neighbors squatting, fencing, chaining-off, & dumping on the "00 Block" of Westvale Road (shown in MassGIS as a recorded street called "Avenue of Memories")?
This would make a natural way to walk to work or care at Lawrence Memorial if it were maintained as the public way that it appears to be.
As it is, it seems to be used for dumping construction rubble and parking stuff.

Drainage/Flooding Issue Archived02155 Medford, MA, USA - Medford
Dangerous Grate (wrong type & orientation)
This should be a "checkerboard" iron grate so that it can't catch bike wheels. (All other grates around Medford High seem correct). Location is slightly uphill from the "drop off loop" in front of Medford High, just before the turn up to the Voke/Pool.
It is dangerous because is a highway grate oriented as if it were on an interstate, and could catch bike/scooter/rollerblade wheels, wedging them between the bars and flipping the person face-first onto the pavement.
If the grate can't be swapped for a checkerboard-style, it should at least turned 90degrees either way, so that skinny tires will rumble across rather than drop and wedge.

337 Salem St Medford, Massachusetts - Medford
3 trees (mix of Maple & Pear) have low branches 6' to 8' over the sidewalk between 305 and 337 Salem St (odds/south side). Perfect for winter pruning
There's also a pear tree on the Evens/North side, with a large, low, stumpy side branch that the Tree Warden should be on the lookout for when in the area (but I didn't catch the location)

Faded Stop Sign Archived4 Golden Hills Road Saugus, Massachusetts - Saugus
Stop Sign is very faded and non-reflective. The one that tells Golden Hills Rd (Northbound) to stop as Sweetwater tees in from the right.
Located at the north end of the short block of Golden Hills Rd between Bay State Rd (from Melrose) and Sweetwater St

500 High Street Medford, Massachusetts - Medford
Outbound on High (MA 60) from W.Med.Sq. toward Arlington, there is a faded & hard to read sign at the crosswalk (see photo uploaded) lots of small text that looks like clutter and drivers may not "get" it in time.
Could we get, instead a big, clear, simple day glo sign?
Is this a School Zone? Maybe a School Crossing (MUTCD S1-1 Two Kids with Books) is appropriate here. Certainly a "regular" W11-2 (Pedestrian on Diamond). And an arrow pointing at the crosswalk?
Driving Inbound (from Arlington) at this crosswalk, there's no sign at all, and coming out of St Ray's usually has the feel of "stepping into traffic from between cars" even though the crosswalk is painted. On the St Ray's side a pole is probably hard (would mess up funeral loading or the pear trees), but could a sign go on the left (Citzens Bank) side?

37 Norman Street Everett, Massachusetts - Everett
Norman St needs parking (to support local brew-pubs), but is badly marked because property on north side has stacked containers in their locked, gated, "driveway" here since at least 2011 (https://goo.gl/maps/SVXXsXqESDP2)
Parking here is technically illegal (not permitted by current paint), but cut's owner has stacked containers 2 high and 10 deep here--they are clearly not using the cut. Should have been marked for parking when the sidewalk went in, but not too late to fix it now.

SLOW Narrow Bridge Ahead Archived156 Grove Street Medford, Massachusetts - Medford
Northbound on Grove St opposite 156 Grove, there is an obsolete warning sign (Green background and faded letters instead of MUTCD black-on-orange).
There's already a "Narrow Bridge" sign about 80 yards north of this point, but maybe either an icon (with an "AHEAD" below it) would be good additional help--or some other sign on this same post (like a speed limit sign?)--to try to slow people down in this area.
-
White-on-White (letters fell off?) Archived15 Woods Road Medford, Massachusetts - MedfordSign has lost its black lettering. Fairly new (since 2011) it has a strong reflective background, but the words "Speed Limit" and "25" are now entirely white-on-white.
